Examples of things to discuss during a Microplastics Expert Session
Depending on your question, we can consider solutions with you in various ways. Our materials scientists understand the properties of the plastics that cause microplastics to form. This usually happens through friction, heat, and light. Based on this knowledge, we can help you to think about the design of your product or process, and what options you have to reduce microplastic emissions. TNO is also researching the health effects of microplastics. Are you curious about this? If so, we would be happy to update you on the latest developments in the field.
Microplastics Lab
We have the expertise to measure microplastics down to the smallest level. Our Microplastics Lab can give you insight into the number of particles, their size distribution, and identify the type of particle. We can also simulate the formation of microplastics to predict how many and how fast particles are formed.
You have:
- You are a retailer, manufacturer, brand owner, or end user of plastic products, or you have a process that (potentially) releases microplastics
- You have a question on a microplastics issue, such as:
- How can I design my product or process to minimise the release of microplastics during use?
- How can I reduce or capture microplastic emissions in the manufacture of my product or process?
- Which types of plastic emit less microplastics than others?
You will receive:
- An understanding of the properties of plastics (in your product or process)
- Advice on material use and/or product design alternatives
- Advice on how to reduce microplastic emissions
- Information on the health effects of microplastics
Costs
You can book a Microplastics Expert Session from €800 (excluding VAT). During a free intake, we’ll be happy to discuss your requirements, so that we can properly prepare the Expert Session for you.
